Since the untimely death of Dale Parker in 2001 and the retirement of Clive Walker, we have had to adapt to a rapidly changing environment. Financial constraints and the gazetting of land claims over a large portion of Lapalala have meant that, to our deep regret, we have had to close down our loss-making tourism operations. In order to preserve the unique wilderness aspect of Lapalala, we have needed to refocus. Our responsibilities to the local community, the Lapalala Wilderness School and the biosphere of which we are a part have necessitated restructuring management, operations and long-term planning. In particular, the development of a workable solution to partnerships with the communities who will benefit from the land claims has occupied much of our time, energy and resources. Once these issues have been resolved, new tourism operations will be launched and we hope we will then be able to welcome you to Lapalala. In the meantime, we suggest you contact the local tourism office on 014 755 3535 for accomodation options in the area. We assure you of our strongest commitment to the visionary conservation ideals of Clive and Dale, and will do our utmost to help ensure the ongoing preservation of this wonderful wilderness area.
