Buffalo Release at Lapalala
2 November 2008
Certain members of the Big 5 are about to make the untamed bushveld at Lapalala Wilderness their home.
After a long journey from Elandsberg in the Cape, a herd of young, disease free buffalo are about to embark on a new life at Lapalala.
Released into a holding camp for easy observation, a temporary earth ramp has been constructed, allowing the animals immediate and safe exit from the transport carrier.
As first, the buffalo were reluctant to leave the truck, but once they got a whiff of freedom there was no stopping them.
Further updates on the buffalo will follow as they settle into their new home in the austere landscapes of Lapalala Wilderness. |
